Saia opened additional terminals in Washington and Indiana last week to help bolster its network.
The sites at 12801 State Ave. in Marysville, Washington, and 12995 N. Executive Drive in Edinburgh, Indiana, reflect the company’s long-term infrastructure investment.
“By adding capacity in both the Pacific Northwest and the Midwest, we’re able to create more efficient routing opportunities and deliver a more consistent service experience,” Saia EVP of Operations Patrick Sugar said in a news release.
The Marysville terminal enhances Saia’s ability to move freight across Washington and into neighboring markets, while the Edinburgh location strengthens coverage in a high-traffic logistics corridor south of Indianapolis, the release said.
“These new locations are part of Saia’s continued investment in expanding network capacity and improving service coverage,” Sugar said in a statement to Trucking Dive.
The additions mean the LTL carrier has seven terminals in Indiana — with Louisville, Kentucky, providing additional coverage in the southern part of the state. The Northwest addition extends its reach north of Seattle.
Two more terminals are slated to open in June: one in Duluth, Minnesota, and the other in Columbia, Missouri.
The company invested over $2 billion to its network since 2013, extending its footprint to 213 sites, according to its 2025 annual report.
“Both locations present expansion opportunities as demand in the markets grow,” Sugar added.
As the market improves, the carrier is positioned to improve asset utilization, CEO and President Frederick "Fritz" Holzgrefe noted on a Q1 earnings call in April.
