UPS Global Director of Fleet Safety Joanna Cornell left for a new job with bus operator Transdev U.S. this month, according to an announcement.
Cornell’s 23 years with UPS included prior roles as health and safety director and HR operations manager, according to her LinkedIn. She was hired as Transdev’s VP of safety and security, the bus company said.
UPS did not respond to a request for comment about who will replace her, either permanently or on an interim basis.
The former UPS leader led the carrier’s adoption of video truck telematics systems, significantly reducing vehicle collisions and improving driver performance, Transdev said in the announcement.
Cornell became known in the transportation industry for her ability to combine technology with operational processes, and she regularly speaks on safety best practices and risk management, the bus operator noted.
“Joanna’s extensive background in safety technology and risk management, along with her leadership experience, will be a tremendous asset as we continue to enhance our safety and security protocols,” said Lauren Skiver, COO of Transdev U.S., in the announcement.
“Her expertise will help us maintain our commitment to the highest standards of safety for both our employees and the communities we serve.”
Cornell, who shared the news on LinkedIn last week, is taking on the role as Transdev expands its services.
“My priority will be ensuring that safety and security remain at the forefront of everything we do, from our daily operations to the innovative technologies we use,” she said in the company announcement.
