Uber Freight named D’Andrae Larry its new head of intermodal, the company announced July 24.
Larry joins the company from Norfolk Southern, where he led the railroad’s freight strategy, Uber Freight said in the release. Between 1997 and 2020, Larry worked in assorted management roles for BNSF, according to his LinkedIn.
As shippers turn to intermodal as a cost-savings strategy, Uber Freight said the company plans to tap Larry’s experience in the space as the market rebounds. Uber Freight is a brokerage that offers a range of logistics services including truckload, LTL, intermodal, drayage and ocean and air transport.
Larry will be responsible for developing Uber Freight’s intermodal business strategies, building key railroad and commercial relationships, as well as leading the intermodal team, the company said.
“A proven leader like D’Andrae is paramount for our team and the marketplace alike as the space continues to evolve and grow,” CEO Lior Ron said in a statement.
Shippers are seeking options and efficiencies across different transport modes, Larry said in a statement.
“Uber Freight is in a unique position to be able to put all those puzzle pieces together, and I’m excited to join the team to help drive transformational growth for the business, our shippers, and their end customers,” he said. “Intermodal is the perfect vehicle for achieving it all.”
