Former Amazon Freight General Manager Ari Silkey has joined the Transportation Equipment Network, according to a news release.
He’s tasked with modernizing operations, particularly with data and artificial intelligence, and improving service delivery and operations, the company said.
“Ari has built and scaled transportation operations at a level that very few people in this industry have,” Hooman Yazhari, CEO at TEN, said in the release.
Silkey worked with Amazon for nearly a decade, aiding tech upgrades such as sensor-equipped smart trailers that reduce downtime.
He also co-founded businesses in the Internet of Things auto space through Zubie and the navigation system segment with Altus Positioning Systems, according to his LinkedIn. Silkey also led product development within Best Buy.
“What drew me to TEN is the rare chance to build at a company that already has such a large scale but is still in the early stages of what it can become,” Silkey said in the release.

Similar to Amazon Freight’s trailer base size, TEN also has over 80,000 trailers. It also provides maintenance and fleet management services and has over 45 locations across North America.
Speaking at FreightWaves’ F3: Future of Freight Festival last year as the industry keynote speaker, he described how tech upgrades and incremental improvements are aiding trailers, the backbone of the industry, over several years.
TEN’s COO position was previously held by Nathan Smith, who also served as interim CEO of the organization for part of 2025 until Yazhari replaced him in November.
