Total Distribution Inc. has acquired Swafford Companies' trucking assets as well as its warehousing and transportation services businesses, according to a Feb. 28 press release.
The deal expands Total Distribution Inc.’s network in South Carolina, where the Swafford Companies have operations in Greer, Spartanburg and Greenville, according to the press release. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The Swafford Companies include Swafford Trucking, Swafford Warehousing, and Swafford Transportation, which will now operate as Total Distribution, Inc., also known as TDI.
The combined businesses will improve flexibility and expand services for TDI's parent company — Peoples Services, of Canton, Ohio — and Swafford’s current customers, TDI CEO Doug Sibila said in a statement.
Van Swafford, who founded Swafford Companies, recognizes the growth potential in combining with TDI.
“Having known the TDI companies, Doug Sibila and his management staff as part of the International Warehouse Logistics Association and Insurance Captive for many years, I can see the opportunities and growth the company can provide,” Swafford said.
TDI is a third-party logistics and warehouse services provider. It operates 50 facilities across Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida.
