Raven Transport Holding is shutting down its over-the-road and dedicated fleet operations in Jacksonville, Florida, according to a notice filed with the state.
The asset-owning truckload carrier, which also is based in Jacksonville, Florida, disclosed in a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice dated April 30 that the shutdown of its facility at 7150 Philips Highway is permanent.
Separations will take place over a two-week period beginning June 30. A total of 83 employees will be affected, including 57 drivers.
The company will continue paying employee wages and benefits though their separation date unless they voluntarily resign or are terminated, according to the notice.
Raven Transport did not disclose a reason for the shutdown, though the trucking industry has been mired in a persistently weak freight environment. A representative for the company said in an email to Trucking Dive that it does not make public statements.
Raven Transport has founded in 1985, according to its LinkedIn profile. The company primarily operates in the Southeast, but its dedicated network extends into the Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions.
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s data on the company as of Jan. 31, 2023, showed the carrier operated 340 power units and employed 352 drivers.
