PJ Trailers is recalling over 30 different 2024 models for potential tire bubbling and delamination issues, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notice.
Certain trailers produced between May 21 and Sept. 30 by the Sumner, Texas-based manufacturer may be in jeopardy because of a related recall of Goodride tires manufactured in Zhejiang, China, according to notices.
“The sidewall of the tires may experience bubbling and separate, causing loss of tire pressure,” an NHTSA letter said. “As such, these trailers fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 119, ‘New Pneumatic Tires-Other Than Passenger Cars.’”
In September, Elkhart, Indiana-based Dexter Axle Co. noted it was recalling nearly 20,000 tire and wheel assemblies, following a product audit. Recall documents identified an estimated 2% of those tires were defective and produced at ZC Rubber in Hangzhou.
For the recall involving PJ Trailers, which has manufacturing sites in Ohio and Texas, the tires will be inspected and replaced at no cost to owners. Dexter will be involved in replacing the tires, if needed.
