Old Dominion Freight Line provided further details Wednesday on the company’s succession plans upon the retirement of CEO Greg Gantt at the end of June.
The LTL carrier will promote Senior Vice President of Sales Gregory Plemmons to succeed COO Kevin “Marty” Freeman upon Freeman’s elevation to CEO on July 1.
Steven Hartsell, vice president of field sales, will take on Plemmons’ responsibilities on the same day.
“We are excited to promote Greg and Steve and are proud of their commitment to provide our customers with superior service,” Gantt said in a statement. “Greg and Steve will continue to work with Marty and the rest of our leadership team to execute on our long-term strategic plan, and we look forward to their continued contributions.”
Freeman has worked closely with Plemmons and Hartsell for many years “and truly value[s] their operational and sales expertise,” the incoming CEO said in a statement.
“Old Dominion is fortunate to have such talented leaders who have the experience and vision to continuing driving us forward,” Freeman said.
The Thomasville, North Carolina-based carrier’s C-suite shakeup is among several happening in trucking at a time of heightened desire for new leadership across the industry.
