Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores has named Eddie Burt as its new chief supply chain officer, a company spokesperson confirmed.
Burt officially joined the travel center chain last week, the spokesperson said. He is working on-site at Love’s headquarters in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, according to his LinkedIn bio.
This marks Love’s only chief executive hiring of 2023 so far, and its first since it named Les Thompson its inaugural chief human resources officer in June 2022.
Although Love’s is Burt’s first foray into the convenience store industry, the executive has more than three decades of experience working in and around retail stores.
Prior to joining Love’s, he spent four and a half years with discount retailer Big Lots Stores, where he began as senior vice president of logistics before becoming executive vice president and chief supply chain officer, according to his LinkedIn bio. Burt was terminated from Big Lots Stores on June 2, according to the company’s 8-K filing earlier this summer.
Before joining Big Lot Stores in 2019, Burt spent three years with health and nutrition retailer GNC, where he was executive vice president of merchandising and supply chain, as well as senior vice president and chief supply chain officer.
Burt also spent over eight years in numerous supply chain, real estate and distribution roles with PetSmart, as well as three years with Home Depot. He spent the first 15 years of his career with since-shuttered department store chain Mervyns.
Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores owns more than 630 locations in 42 states, as well as 430 truck repair locations, and has more than 39,000 employees.
