Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings has replaced CEO David Jackson after nine years as the carrier’s top executive.
CFO and Swift Transportation President Adam Miller is the truckload giant’s next CEO, the carrier announced Tuesday in a news release.
“Adam’s broad strategic, financial, and operating experience during his 22-year career at Knight-Swift has him well-prepared and ready to lead as CEO,” Executive Chairman Kevin Knight said in the announcement.
Jackson is moving on after more than two decades at the company, saying in a statement it’s “time for a change and for the next generation to take the baton.” In addition to chief executive, his previous roles at Knight-Swift included treasurer, secretary and CFO.
Miller has had leading roles in developing the company, including “establishing Knight Refrigerated as a major player in its market” as well as “integrating Swift after the merger and improving its operations,” Knight said.
Miller joined Knight-Swift in 2002 and became CFO of Knight Transportation in 2012.
Taking over Miller’s role as CFO is Andrew Hess, who has been working as senior VP of M&A and senior VP of finance for Swift. Knight noted his leadership in M&A activities in recent years, including efforts with AAA Cooper Transportation, MME and U.S. Xpress Enterprises.
