Montgomery Transportation Group hired Joe Jaska from DB Schenker as its new CEO this month, the Alabama-based carrier announced Tuesday.
Jaska’s experience in managing diversified freight made him the right choice to lead the flatbed and oversized hauling specialist, according to company founder Rollins Montgomery.
“Joe has a driver-first approach, placing the well-being and professional development of our drivers at the core of our success,” Montgomery said in the announcement. “Joe has strong industry relationships and extensive knowledge of logistics and trucking, combined with a genuine commitment to prioritizing the needs of our drivers, customers and safety.”
Jaska most recently was DB Schenker’s EVP of Land Transport, Americas Region, where he oversaw the company’s operations in North, Central, and South America. He also was president and COO for Ann Arbor Distribution and managed its final mile, retail distribution, medical vertical delivery, and third-party logistics businesses.
His other past executive roles included VP of operations for asset-based LTL carrier Frozen Food Express and VP and general manager of American Eagle Lines, a subsidiary of FFE Transportation Services, a provider of full truckload dry van services.
Montgomery Transportation Group formed in May 2022 to bring its diversified hauling services under one brand. Its divisions include Montgomery Transport, MT Dedicated, MT Select, RM Logistics, M1 and Montgomery Logistics. The carrier has more than 700 trucks.
Jaska, a board member of the American Trucking Associations, looks forward to guiding Montgomery Transportation Group’s next phase of growth.
“Over the last 13 years, the Company has become a well-regarded industry player in flatbed trucking and transportation of over-dimensional loads with both safety and logistical efficiency at the core of its values and business practices,” Jaska said.
