Hyzon Motors hired its first chief operating officer, Bappa Banerjee, according to a Thursday announcement.
Banerjee will lead the operations team and provide strategic direction, the company said. He’s scheduled to start May 1, where he will oversee the company’s global operations, manufacturing, engineering, commercial and end-to-end supply chain.
“Bappa brings the industry background and leadership expertise to take Hyzon fuel cell electric trucks to production and commercialization,” CEO Parker Meeks said in the news release.
Banerjee previously served in executive, management and engineering roles, working at places such as Wabtec, GE Transportation and Caterpillar, according to his LinkedIn profile.
“His experience includes a rare combination of driving global engineering in powertrain development and implementing world-class manufacturing and operating processes across markets,” Meeks said.
The company is developing zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell powered commercial vehicles that include Class 8 trucks, and it continues to reach international markets.
This month Hyzon also appointed Jiajia Wu as chief financial officer and promoted Pat Griffin to president of North America.
