After five years as Hub Group’s first-ever chief human resources officer, Michele McDermott is leaving for another opportunity, according to the company.
McDermott’s last day with the transportation provider is on Wednesday.
McDermott had been in the role since August 2019. She has nearly 30 years of experience, previously serving in HR leadership for Assurance, National Express Group (now part of Mobico Group), United Service Companies and Draw Enterprises, according to her LinkedIn profile.
Tom LaFrance, Hub Group’s EVP, general counsel and corporate secretary, will take on McDermott’s HR duties after her departure, a securities filing said.
Her departure is the latest executive shakeup for the Oak Brook, Illinois-based company, which employs more than 5,000 workers, after Phillip Yeager took the CEO reins from his father Jan. 1, prompting a series of other C-suite promotions.
The changing of the guard has also included the replacement of Hub Group’s CFO, Geoff DeMartino, with the company’s former chief accounting officer, Kevin Beth.
The executive leadership changes come at a time when human resources and financial departments are integrating massive changes. The company made a splash with one of the last big M&A deals of 2023, acquiring Forward Air’s final mile business for $262 million.
