Jacqueline Gelb, American Trucking Associations’ VP of energy and environmental affairs, will start a new job as president of American Truck Dealers on Dec. 9, according to an announcement this week.
Gelb, a former Navistar VP of government affairs, will succeed Laura Perrotta, who accepted a job as president of the New Jersey Coalition of Automotive Retailers this summer.
“Jacqueline brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the regulatory and policy issues that impact truck dealers the most,” said Scott Pearson, ATD chairman and president of Peterbilt of Atlanta, in the announcement. “In the current industry landscape, that is invaluable.”
Mike Tunnell, ATA’s senior director of energy and environmental affairs, will be the group’s primary subject matter expert until Gelb’s replacement is named, Press Secretary Sean McNally said in an email. The ATA has not yet named a policy director of energy and environmental affairs since listing the job on LinkedIn a few months ago.
Gelb, who spoke at an ATD lobbying meeting in Washington, D.C., this summer, joins the group as it invests in its policy advocacy expertise. ATD is also welcoming David Bell, legislative affairs director of the National Automotive Dealers Association, as its director.
ATD hired Gelb at a critical time for truck dealers, National Automotive Dealers Association President and CEO Mike Stanton said in the announcement. ATD and ATA are among the groups advocating for lengthening truck emissions reduction requirement timelines.
“She has the knowledge, experience and passion to successfully advocate for our dealer members,” Stanton said.
ATD, the auto dealers association’s truck division, includes more than 3,300 medium- and heavy-duty truck dealer members holding nearly 3,000 separate franchises for domestic and imported freight.
