PGT Trucking named Omar Davila to the new role of VP of cross border operations, the company announced this month.
Davila, who started his role in September, is based in Laredo, Texas, to support the flatbed specialist’s expansion in the Southwest U.S., according to the release. He has more than 16 years of transportation industry experience, serving previously as director of Mexico operations for Landstar and branch manager for DSV.
PGT Trucking President Gregg Troian in a statement said Davila’s business development and international logistics background will aid with the carrier’s expansion efforts. Manufacturing growth in Mexico has been spurred by nearshoring efforts, which has lured a range of businesses from makers of automotive parts to home appliances.
PGT is focusing on Southwest expansion, where it has operated for more than 25 years and currently moves more than 4,000 cross-border loads annually.
PGT broke ground on a new terminal in Laredo, Texas, in May, which it expects to be completed by Q2 2024. The facility will house a full-service operations center, maintenance shop, training facilities, secure cargo area and serve as a regional base for 70 drivers.
